Frank L. Smith, III

I am a research fellow at the Griffith Asia Institute and an associate investigator with the Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security. My research examines the role that political organizations and social institutions play in mediating the relationship between technology and international security. I am particularly interested in research, development, acquisition, and doctrine relating to biosecurity (namely biological warfare, bioterrorism, biodefense, and naturally occurring outbreaks of infectious diseases). I have a B.S. in biological chemistry and Ph.D. in political science, both from the University of Chicago.
